Transtar, LLC is seeking a Civil Engineer join its rapidly growing team of professionals supporting operators of short-line railroads, contract switching companies, and railcar maintenance and cleaning companies in the Mid-Atlantic, Eastern, and Southern United States.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform and/or assist with the structural inspection of bridges, culverts, tunnels, and other railroad related structures
- Perform and/or assist with field engineering and survey work
- Assists in the design, plan preparation, and planning & development of various track & structures projects
- Develop scopes of work and project plans for various projects related to the railroads track and structures
- Produce CAD drawings for field projects as needed
- Manage key projects or provide guidance and support to other project managers
- Provide engineering support to the field maintenance departments as needed
- Assist with environmental projects and responsibilities of the department across the facilities
- Provide engineering support to management teams related to merger and acquisition activities
Requirements:
- Bachelors of Science or equivalent degree from an ABET Accredited Program.
- 1 to 3 years’ experience in heavy industrial/construction setting
- Knowledge areas must include steel & concrete design, foundation & wall design, and other civil engineering concepts
- Experience with structural field inspections and railroad industry a plus. Previous environmental experience also a plus.
- CAD and Excel proficiency required.
- Project Management experience desired but not required.
Working Conditions: Split between office environment and field work in and around railroad and heavy industrial operations. Field work will involve work around moving equipment, construction sites, structural climbing, heights, and varying weather conditions. Approximately 20% overnight domestic travel.
