Transtar can offer seven day-a-week common carrier or contract, in-plant switching service to accommodate a customer’s switching needs while improving safety and efficiency. When volumes warrant, we can dedicate a crew, or offer multiple switching options to get your railcars on the right track, all the while making sure your management personnel are kept in the communication loop. Switching services include train assembly and disassembly, storing and classifying cars and more.

Transtar Locations

The URR serves the steel, coke, coal, chemical, aggregate, lumber and automotive industries, and has a state-of-the-art, barge-to-rail bulk transfer facility at Duquesne, PA.

GRW is a Class III switching carrier and operates on 63 miles of Yard Track at Gary, IN.

The DCRR operates a 24×7 switching operations, rail car storage and repair, locomotive repair, track repair, rotary dumper to standard hoppers and/or Beth Gons.

The Texas & Northern Railway Company is a Class III railway located in the State of Texas comprising 7.6 miles of the Steel Lead and 32 miles of storage tracks.

Fairfield Southern Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Transtar LLC, is a contract carrier operating within US Steel’s Fairfield Works at Fairfield, AL.

Lake Terminal Railroad Company, located in Lorain, OH on the shores of Lake Erie, is a terminal switching carrier serving Republic Engineered Products (REP) and Lorain Tubular.
